Today adidas unveiled the special version of the Brazuca that will be used during the final of the World Cup in Brazil. The ribbon colors of the ball mimic the green and gold of the coveted World Cup trophy. The final is set for July 13th in Rio. Who do you think will have the privilege of playing with this ball?
Today Nike released the imagery of the footwear that will be worn during the World Cup and through the summer. The Magista Obra, Mercurial Superfly, Tiempo Legend V, and Hypervenom Phantom are pictured in the vibrant World Cup colorways: Hyperpunch & Volt with gold accents featured throughout. It will be interesting to see how these boots matchup against the adidas Battle Pack on field.
In a partnership with Apple, Adidas has developed a SMART BALL with micoach technology to help players gauge their ball skills and training development:
The SMART BALL is a Bluetooth Smart and app-enabled soccer ball with integrated sensor technology for dead-ball kicking training such as penalties, free-kicks, shooting, corners, long passes or goal kicks. The SMART BALL relays data on how hard it has been struck, offers visual flight trajectories, depicts ball spin and shows impact points via the adidas miCoach SMART BALL app available for iPhone and iPod touch. This data can then be used to help train players, providing coaching instructions on how to alter kicking technique to bend free kicks, launch knuckle balls and generate more shot power.
After their successful “Forever Blue” campaign for the official Home kit, Adidas recently unveiled the new Away kit for Chelsea in the 2014/15 season. The kit is a very prominent yellow that definitely pops with the classic Chelsea blue.
“The new shirt will be the lightest Chelsea away shirt ever produced, featuring the latest in adiZero lightweight technology and a polo collar which pays tribute to the retro designs, as well as an iconic blue stripe across the back which contrasts the two traditional Chelsea colors.”
In celebration of Arsenal’s recent FA Cup win & the end to the 20 year partnership, Nike has created a “mashup” jersey commemorating some famous past Arsenal jerseys. The most recent kit serves as the basis for the jersey, but is mixed in with swatches from the yellow of past away kits and the maroon from the farewell to the Highbury home stadium jersey. The jersey is a special edition with individual numbering and will only be available at London’s Nike Phenomenal House at the Sorting Office from May 26 to 30.
Nike recently released the FC Barcelona Home kit for the 2014/15 season. It features the classic Barcelona blue and red stripes with a few new design touches. The subtle v-neck features the yellow and red stripes of the Catalan flag. “Barca” is also written in that same yellow on the back of the neck. The kits feature the latest Nike Dri-Fit technology and environmental sustainability.
