Today was a big day for Nike. They finally released the USA away kit and also launched their marketing campaign #riskeverything that will lead up to the 2014 World Cup taking place this summer in Brazil. The campaign stars Nike’s biggest names: Neymar JR, Ronaldo, and Wayne Rooney. The theme for the campaign revolves around the enormous amount of pressure that these athletes have to deal with when they represent their home nations and how they perform under that pressure.
Ronaldo, quite possibly one of the most famous footballers in the world, deals with the pressure of being a hero to millions of people around the world. Neymar JR has to live up to the occasion of being the Brazilian #10, which has been worn on the backs of some of the greatest players of all time like Ronaldinho and Pele. Wayne Rooney deals with the scrutiny of the football fanatics of England who expect the Premier League favorite to perform on football’s biggest stage.
The #RiskEverything campaign also has an online presence through the Nike website, and they are setting up some cool events & social media opportunities for fans. Fans have the chance to showcase their #riskeverything moments through instagram (I’m guessing) and Nike is also setting up the “ultimate small-sided tournament” in major cities around the world. Check out the website to see if there are tournaments happening near you! Our East Coast spot is NYC, of course.
