The USWNT ended their 43-game unbeaten streak this past Friday when they played against Sweden in the Algarve Cup. The US dominated play and created a number of opportunities to score but couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net. Lotta Schelin headed in a goal in the 24th minute for Sweden, and the game remained goalless for the rest of the match. Abby Wambach took a penalty early on in the game when Amy Rodriguez was taken down in the box, but she couldn’t convert when Sweden’s goalkeeper made a great save. Samantha Mewis and Sarah Hagen also earned their first International caps.
The USWNT will face Denmark tomorrow, March 10th, in hopes to make it to the third-place match.
