USMNT & USWNT End The Day Winless

The USMNT were beat 0-2 by Ukraine today in an International friendly in Cyprus. The first goal came in the 12th minute from Yarmolenko, and the second came in the 68th minute from Devic. Two substitutions were made in the second half with Brek Shea coming on for Edgar Castillo and Aron Johannsson replacing Sacha Kljestan. Johannsson came close to scoring in the 87th minute, but his volley was hit off the goal line from a Ukrainian defender. It was a poor showing for the US defense, and it looks like Head Coach Klinsmann will have his work cut out for him in his decision process for the final World Cup roster. The US remain winless against Ukraine (0-3-1).

The USWNT played Japan today in their first matchup of the Algarve Cup in Portugal. The match ended in a draw with the only US goal coming from forward Sydney Leroux in the 59th minute when she slid and blocked a kick from the Japan goalie and it ricocheted into the open net. The WNT plays Sweden next on Friday, March 7th.
