Adidas released the Samba primeknit on Thursday, and with a unique design never used in the construction of a boot before, it’s been the talk of the soccer world. The upper of the boot is made entirely of adidas’ primeknit technology, which utilizes a knitted sock-like feel. Unlike other soccer boots, the upper is one full piece and not a stitched together collection of leather pieces, which allows for the best fit possible. The cleats weigh in at 5.8 oz and the upper is twice as thick as the F50 adiZero. There is also a polymer water resistant coating over the upper, and the boots were tested through all the elements in the months of September through December. Overall, the design process was quite intricate with over 3 months of knit experimentation until finally moving on to the full-wear testing.
Expect to see Liverpool’s Luis Suarez wearing these for a limited time in the coming months.
