USMNT Roster Update: 24 Players for Training Camp

The US Men’s National team is holding a training camp this weekend in Frankfurt, Germany in preparation for their March 5th match against Ukraine. This is the only opportunity for European-based players to play for the USMNT before the World Cup preparation camp in May. Of the 24 players that Head Coach Jurgen Klinsmann has called up to play, 21 of them play overseas, so it’s critical for these players to have a good showing at camp. Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey, and Edgar Castillo are the only players who play on North American teams. Check out the full training camp roster below.

Boot Design: Adidas Samba Primeknit

Adidas released the Samba primeknit on Thursday, and with a unique design never used in the construction of a boot before, it’s been the talk of the soccer world. The upper of the boot is made entirely of adidas’ primeknit technology, which utilizes a knitted sock-like feel. Unlike other soccer boots, the upper is one full piece and not a stitched together collection of leather pieces, which allows for the best fit possible. The cleats weigh in at 5.8 oz and the upper is twice as thick as the F50 adiZero. There is also a polymer water resistant coating over the upper, and the boots were tested through all the elements in the months of September through December. Overall, the design process was quite intricate with over 3 months of knit experimentation until finally moving on to the full-wear testing.

Highlight “Real”: Madrid vs. Schalke Champions League

Some nice looking goals from Real Madrid in their win over Schalke today in the Champions League Round of 16. Gareth Bale and Ronaldo netted two of the best looking goals of the day, but Huntelaar managed to save some face for the Bundesliga side with an insane volley from the top of the 18.

Badass Nike Magista Teaser

A battle of the brands occurred today with Adidas teasing their new Prime Fit boot and Nike responding with a teaser video of their new Magista boot, which will replace the CTR360 line this year just in time for the World Cup. Interestingly enough, the Prime Fit boot is actually a play on the Nike Flyknit technology. More info for the Prime Fit will be released tomorrow. A bunch of top players have been testing out the new Magista and they seem to be rather pleased with the boot…
